Philip Gabriel Perez was born in Medellín, Colombia and raised in New York City. At seven years old, he began attending ballet classes at the JKO School of American Ballet Theatre. He trained there for nine years under Franco De Vita and Raymond Lukens. In 2010, Alexei Ratmansky cast him as the Young Prince in the company’s new production of The Nutcracker. He reprised this role for three years, performing opposite ABT principals in NYC and at DC’s Kennedy Center.
In 2015, he continued his training at Boston Ballet School under Peter Stark and Margaret Tracey. The following season he joined Nashville Ballet II, where he danced in company productions, including works by George Balanchine. In 2017 he joined Colorado Ballet’s Studio Company, where he danced corps roles in ballets by Twyla Tharp, Antony Tudor, Michael Pink, and Derek Deane.
In 2018, he joined Boulder Ballet, and soon after was awarded second-place at Miami IBC 2019. In Boulder, he has danced works by notable choreographers such as Christopher Wheeldon, Paul Taylor, Amy Seiwert and more. He has also originated roles in new creations by Gregory Dawson, Sidra Bell, Sarah Tallman and others. He regularly appears as a guest artist with companies across the US. Additionally, he is certified in ABT’s National Training Curriculum, and enjoys teaching and sharing the world of dance.
